Echoes of Gonamena: a dramatic playreading - the arc

Echoes of Gonamena by Simon ParkerABOUT THE SHOWMinions Moor 1837. The Cornish copper boom. Inward migration tops three thousand. Shacks, ale shops, whorehouses, missionaries; filth, danger, poverty. A farming family divided. Will the mines deliver opportunity or wreak destruction? A universal story of change, and our individual response to it.Original cast members from the hit 2009 production of Gonamena reunite for a special one-off ‘dramatic reading’ celebrating South East Cornwall’s mining heritage and the 20th anniversary of Cornish Mining’s UNESCO World Heritage status. No props, no set, no costumes – just words to ignite the imagination.Capturing the true and dramatic story of the Caradon mines’ boom and bust years, Echoes of Gonamena combines a carefully researched script with the talents of community and professional performers. Written by Simon Parker, directed by Olivier Award-winning Kneehigh director Simon Harvey, produced by Sarah Pym, and with a live performance by the Boilerhouse choir.‘As well as being funny and charming and heartbreaking in equal measure, Gonamena unfolds in the language of the people, rich in authentic Cornish dialect, bringing to life the very human side of the Industrial Revolution’ – Jackie Butler Western Morning News‘A wonderful piece of work. Calendar Girls - Teylu Theatre Company

Calendar GirlsA play presented by Teylu Theatre Company. ABOUT THE SHOWBased on a true story and adapted from the hit film, Calendar Girls follows a group of Yorkshire Women’s Institute members who, after the death of a friend’s husband from leukemia, decide to raise money for charity in an unconventional way: by producing a ‘nude’ calendar. With only strategically placed props to preserve their modesty, the women challenge expectations, spark a media frenzy, and discover unexpected strength in themselves and each other.  It’s laugh-out-loud funny, yet deeply moving, offering audiences a feel-good experience that leaves them uplifted and inspired. This Show has a Parental Guidance recommendation as it contains some non-sexual nudity and moderate swearing. Our Thursday 30th evening show is a Gala performance to raise funds for our charity partner, Plymouth Radiotherapy Development Fund: raising money to enhance patient care.  Please arrive early for the evening performance or arrange to stay late for the matinee to enjoy some special fundraising activities including our incredible Hamper Draw, Liskeard Silver band, Sunflower Workshops and home-baked refreshments.PERFORMANCE INFORMATIONPlease note this performance is a play, not a musical. Running Time: approx. 2 hours 20 minutes, with a 20 minute intervalABOUT THE COMPANYTeylu Theatre Company is a new not-for-profit group for adults, proudly rooted in South East Cornwall. Peer Gynt - Miracle Theatre

ABOUT THE SHOWMiracle Theatre bring their magical twist and love of laughter to the classic story of Peer Gynt.Young Peer is a lazy dreamer, who misinterprets Shakespeare’s advice “To thine own self be true” to mean “Look after number one”!He chases after riches and pleasure and lives a life of moral failure and endless excuses. Surely, he will come to no good?Loosely based on Ibsen’s epic comedy, this famous morality tale is perfect material for Miracle Theatre’s highly visual style - physical, funny, surreal and deeply human - a journey through the dream-like world of Norse mythology, peopled with cranky characters, trolls and other bizarre creatures – a comedy of terrors!Think, Fungus the Bogeyman meets Dr Faustus!PERFORMANCE INFORMATIONRunning Time: 2 hours 20 minutes, including 20 minute intervalABOUT THE COMPANYMiracle Theatre is Cornwall’s longest-established professional theatre company and one of the South West’s most distinctive voices. And then there's Sci-Fi Sally, desperate to leave this world for life beyond the stars... But beware. The deeper Bob leads you into his forest of far-fetched fables, the more lost you might get. Widdershins.
